Kanyon is a kind, informed, and warm individual who brings both joy and knowledge into every room she enters. She is active within her community, including documenting events for Indian Canyon Mutsun Band of Costonoan Ohlone and working on a Cultural Revitalization Project with Community Works. Kanyon is also the creative director of Indian Canyon where she displays her multimedia skills in designing their website. Beyond mixed multi-media Kanyon is also the Founder of Indian Canyon Two-Spirit Society, the CEO of Kanyon Consulting, Cultural Director and COO of Costanoan Indian Research, as well as a Cultural Representative and Native monitor for Indian Canyon. Along with being part of the Ohlone tribe, Kanyon also shares ties with a more southern tribe, the Chumash. Kanyon is daughter to Ann-Marie Sayers and was raised in Indian Canyon, where she was exposed to abalone through ceremonies such as greeting guests. Kanyon also has ties to abalone through her medicine, otherwise known as regalia or jewelry. This medicine keeps her grounded and fuels her and is something she cares deeply about. Through these deep ties to her culture and her artistic abilities Kanyon has offered her voice as one that may remedy the relationships between communities, as informed by an Indigenous perspective.
