Meet Aryana Henthorne

Not featured in the film, but served as a Sherwood Valley, Noyo Pomo, and Geographical Information System (GIS) student informant on this project.

Aryana, daughter to Hillary, is also enrolled in the Fort Bragg (Northern) Sherwood Valley/Noyo Pomo. Like others in the area Aryana has been affected by the ongoing red abalone issues. She, like her mother, finds great joy in the multigenerational aspects of acquiring food in her backyard (the Pacific Ocean). This way of life has been greatly affected by current regulations and she has done her best to make changes where she can. For example, Aryana is currently attending college to better inform her GIS Mapping skills. She hopes to utilize these skills in tidal areas where numbers of various species, such as the red abalone, can be pinpointed for fishing and environmental purposes. She hopes these skills can benefit her tribe and the environment overall.
